Part-one of a branching narrative novel I’m writing.
“The Library has always existed. Within its infinite chambers deserts and seas are cradled, eroding once monolithic stone to jagged teeth. Languages have risen and diminished, gods invented to deliver prophecy have faded into obscurity. But the Library remains. Its designs are flawless, its motives are known to none. To Grier, there is beauty in the mystery. While they search for meaning, forces from beyond the endless walls watch with hungry intent, terrible secrets unravel, and voices call back in the dark. Grier is afraid, but still they search, for they know at the labyrinth’s center lies the sky.”
A Piece of the Sky is a meditative, exploratory, puzzle box of a story written as if the personal journal of the protagonist, Grier. The story was inspired by the books House of Leaves, The Library of Babel, and Piranesi as well as games like NaissanceE, and Control.

The entire story so far, start to finish:
Four of my favorite segments from the story, ordered chronologically:
A link to the Miro Board where the whole piece is readable and mapped out. This is where I planned and assembled the story:
Two separate scenes from a film script I wrote. A folk horror piece set in the Alaskan frontier during its Russian colonization in the late 1700’s.
Some writing samples from the dialogue sequences of my game, Dust. Due to the nature of the game, these dialogue samples are written in a unique format. There are no screen directions since there are no physical characters to direct in the first place. The dialogue needed to stand on its own, so that’s where all my focus went. In game, the dialogue is color coded to characters and appears sequentially over atmospheric backgrounds.
